Secondary Infertility: A Journey I Didn’t Expect to Be On

Secondary Infertility: A Journey I Didn’t Expect to Be On

As a baby boutique owner, I’m surrounded every day by tiny clothes, growing families, and those special moments that come with welcoming a new baby.

It’s something I absolutely love — but I wanted to share a more personal side of my journey that some of you may already know, and others may not.

We’ve been trying to grow our family for nearly two years now. Our little girl Daisy is five, and we always imagined she wouldn’t be an only child. Like many people, we thought it would just happen again when the time felt right.

But it hasn’t.

What We’re Going Through

Recently, I’ve had hospital appointments, including scans and tests — an ultrasound and an internal scan — and everything has come back clear.

While that is, of course, positive news, it also leaves us in a difficult place… because we still don’t have any answers.

And that’s something I’ve learned many people don’t talk about enough.

What Is Secondary Infertility?

Secondary infertility is when you’re unable to conceive or carry a pregnancy after previously having a child.

it can feel confusing and isolating — especially when, from the outside, it might look like everything should be fine.

The Feelings That Come With It

This journey has brought a mix of emotions I wasn’t fully prepared for.

There’s gratitude for Daisy — ALWAYS. She’s the best part of me and always will be.

One of the hardest parts is feeling like you shouldn’t be upset because you already have a child… but the truth is, wanting to grow your family doesn’t take away from the love you have — it simply adds to it.

Why I’m Sharing This

I know many of my customers and followers are either growing their families or hoping to. And I also know that behind the smiles and milestones, there can be quiet struggles that aren’t always visible.

If you’re going through something similar — I want you to know you’re not alone.

Secondary infertility is more common than people think, but it’s often not spoken about as openly.

Let’s Talk About It More

If sharing this helps even one person feel less alone, then it’s worth it.

Whether you’re trying for your first, second, or third baby — every journey is valid. Every feeling is valid.

And sometimes, just knowing someone else understands can make all the difference.

From Me to You

Thank you to everyone who has supported us, checked in, or simply been kind. And to anyone walking a similar path — I’m sending you so much love.

If you’ve been following our journey for a while, you may have also read my previous blog where I shared our experience with our miscarriage. It’s another part of this journey that so many people go through quietly, and if you haven’t read it yet, I’ve linked it for you to take a look.

Thank you so much for reading. Hopefully one day in the future I’ll be baby shopping again, this time in our own baby boutique! 😍😍

Lots of love always, Soph 🩷xxx
